The Good Samaritan

You're walking along a road
in wild country.
You come across two men fighting.
One of them is large, powerful.
The other is putting up a fight,
but you know
the larger will win
in the end

So,
what do you do?
Do you help the weaker one?
Come to his aid?
This is difficult.
You might get hurt,
it might take a long time
or you might be defeated.

Or,
do you walk on by
leave them to it.
It's their fight
they might resent
your interference.
You won't get hurt
You lose nothing.
You might feel guilty
but this will pass.

Thirdly,
do you make friends
with the bigger one?
Lend him money
to buy your walking stick?
His victory may then be certain
and you may
have a powerful ally
when all is done
